CHAPTER – 25 A GOOD TURN
I explained in the last chapter the power of thought force. Although the greater part of my life was spent in meditation and philosophical research. I spent the period between my 40th and 50th year in investigating the nature and Power of thought force. Those who are engaged in philosophcial research should first of all understand clearly the nature of the human mind. Only then, the very same mind will reveal the nature of its source which we call life. Once we understand the truth about life, it would be easy to know the reality about God. Long before, I had made a decision. It was to dedicate myself totally to the service of the community after my 50th year. With this end in view I had purchased three acres of land near the Trunk Road. I had also made arrangements to purchase ten more acres for the construction of a Children’s Home and a Home for the Aged. For the maintenance of my family I secured five acres of arable land with a well and pump set. It was my idea to take out a portion of the profits from out of my share in the firm and with that outlay, commence service to the Society. At 45, I was in for a big change in my business. There no buyers. A thousand looms were plying and two thousand families were making a living out of the production and gave Rs.250/- for my day to day expenses.
One day I went to my friend Mr. Chandanmul Sowcar and told him that I wanted Rs. 1,000/- to start a small business. My intention was to buy paddy at wholesale rates and after dehusking it and cleaning it, sell the rice in retail.
Mr. Sowcar readily agreed and gave me the money I wanted.
It was this timely help of Mr. Sowcar that enabled me to put an end to my financial struggles. I am writing all these apparently small details not merely because they portray the ups and downs of my life faithfully, but also because they testify to the power of thought force.
My resolution had been I should be relieved of my debts totally. I achieved the objective and my debts got liquidated all right. As a chain result, my assets were also liquidated. Further, I had decided that after my 50th year. I should totally engage myself in the service of the society.
If my business was flourishing, how could I leave it and devote myself to social service? The experiences that I gained at that time made me conclude that at the end of daily meditation we should make a beneficent Resolution: “May I be blessed with good health, long life, enough wealth,
om, prosperity and peace”.
When I realized in my own life the power and benefits of this Resolution, I taught it to all those whom I initiated in Simplified Kundalini Yoga (SKY). Today this Resolution is vibrating in the life force of the tens of thousands of members of our Organisation. I am sure it will leave its imprints in their seed-cells and continue its beneficent power in the lives of their children their children’s children for a generation to come.
The life that I led with my family came to an end at this juncture. On the Trunk Road in Guduvancheri I constructed a small but near a pond, put up a name board “World Community Service Centre” and commenced my service to the public. Guided by my duty consciousness I worked for some time every day so that I could earn enough to support my family. The rest of my time I spent in the service of the community that is responsible for my existence, for my well being and in fact for everything that I am.
